4/12/2010 - No Change

Same as yesterday.

Sunday, April 11, 2010

4/11/2010

Only change today is that Luxembourg is delayed on 15-mid model again.

21 of 31 countries have no delays:
USA, Australia, Brazil, Canada (En), Canada (Fr), Denmark, Spain, France, Hong Kong (En), Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Philippines, Portugal, Singapore, Finland, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam

4/10/2010

(Corrected)

Japan and Luxembourg are apparently no longer experiencing delays. South Korea increased its delays for the 13" from 3-5 days to 2-3 weeks.

CORRECTION: Minor caching issue in the script. Let's try this again:

Luxembourg is apparently no longer experiencing delays. Japan's delays (1-3 business days) are shorter than before. South Korea increased its already lengthy delays for the 13" from 3-5 days to 2-3 weeks.

Two models are delayed now in Ireland and the UK, up from just 1 earlier. Luxembourg also has delays on the 15" mid model.

21 out of 31 countries have no delays

4/8/2010 afternoon

I will update again this evening (most European stores update stocks around ~7pm EST), but wanted to throw this up there... Japan is massively delayed now for most models.

Some new delays on the 15"-mid. South Korea still extremely delayed.

4/5/2010

4/5/2010 (Monday):

Well... looks like it may have been Easter-related after all. Still have 2-3 week delays in South Korea, middle 15" model in Ireland, Sweden, and UK, and of course Mexico.

26 of 31 countries have no delays:
USA, Australia, Brazil, Canada (En), Canada (Fr), Denmark, Germany, Spain, France, Hong Kong (En), Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Philippines, Portugal, Austria, Singapore, Finland, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam

On the 4/3/2010 Delays

Just to head off a few common criticisms of the 4/3 delays:

1. Some have suggested this was related to Easter, and it might be, but it still has not changed as of Sunday 4/4/2010, and there are plenty of other countries that one might expect to experience similar delays on Easter that don't (Ireland, UK, Germany, Austria, Philippines, Brazil, etc...).

2. It is not just because it's a weekend. I've been checking every day, including weekends, since 2/19, and there have never been any changes. This is probably because the times listed are generally business days anyway.

3. Whatever the reason, this is not just another minor delay. As you can see from the posts below, it is of a completely different size and character than any of the minor delays experienced in the past 6 weeks. Obviously this may still just be a fluke, but it is at least noteworthy.

UPDATE: Apparently all of these stores have 2 day delays for all of their products, not just the MBP. iMacs, Macbooks, Mac Pros, iPods, etc. So... make of all this what you will.

4/3/2010

Not much changed between 3/10/2010 and 4/3/2010 (day the iPad was released). A couple of countries had a model or two delayed for a day here or there. On Saturday morning, however, we have the following:

4/3/2010 (Saturday) and again 4/4/2010 (Sunday):

That's 10 countries (all European) that went from no delays to 2 business day delays on all models overnight. And 1 country (South Korea) with 2-3 week delays on all models except the 17". And of course Mexico.

(Thanks ec for the SK translation. I just assumed days)

Results 2/19/2010 - 3/10/2010

3/10/2010 (Wednesday)

Just Mexico :(

3/8/2010 (Monday):

3 countries with 1 model delayed, plus Mexico.

2/23/2010 (Tuesday):

6 countries with 1 model delayed, plus Mexico.

2/19/2010 (Friday):

4 countries with 1 model delayed, plus Mexico.

How it works

I've been waiting for Apple to release their new Macbook Pro for a while now. So long, in fact, that I had time to write a script to scan all of the international Apple online stores to check for shipping delays. Previous updates have generally been preceded by increased delays, so hopefully this script can help predict the next update.

The script works by scraping the following store URLs:
USA, Australia, Brazil, Canada (En), Canada (Fr), Denmark, Germany, Spain, France, Hong Kong (En), Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Philippines, Portugal, Austria, Singapore, South Korea, Finland, Sweden, Taiwan, Thailand, UK, Vietnam

I'll check the results each day and if there is any change I will post them here.
